Man charged with murder after 50-year-old found dead in Fulham flat

A 50-year-old man has been found dead in his flat by police who broke in after concerns were raised for his welfare.

Stephen Wallis was found at his flat in Barclay Close at 4pm on Tuesday, February 15. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

On Sunday, February 20, Gary Curran, 50 of no fixed abode, was charged with murder having been arrested the previous day.

He appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 21 and was remanded in custody to appear for the next hearing at the Old Bailey tomorrow.

Detective Chief Inspector Katherine Goodwin, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “We are still very keen to build a further picture of Stephen’s life and his movements before his death.

“We would like to speak to anyone who knew him, especially if they saw him in the days and weeks before he was killed.

“We understand that coming forward with information can be daunting. Our officers are here to support you and I would urge anyone who knows anything to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is urged to call police directly on 0208 785 8244, providing the reference 6293/15FEB.

Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, by calling 0800 555 111 or by visiting www.crimestoppers-uk.org
