Man charged with murder after woman, 19, found stabbed to death

A man has been charged with the murder of a 19-year-old woman who was stabbed to death on Sunday.

Sahil Sharma, 23, of Ash Tree Way, Croydon, will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court today, charged with the murder of Mehak Sharma. The Met are unable to confirm if they are related.

Police and paramedics were called to a house in Ash Tree Way at around 4.10pm.

The Met said Mehak Sharma – an Indian national who had recently arrived in the UK – died at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed and formal identification awaits. A post-mortem examination is set to take place today. 

A spokesman from the Met said: “Anyone with information that may assist the investigation, including anyone who saw or heard a disturbance on Sunday afternoon at the address in Ash Tree Way, is asked to call police.

“Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or contact via X (Twitter) @MetCC. Please quote CAD 4546/29OCT.
