Man hospitalised and woman treated by ambulance crews after house fire
A man has been taken to hospital after escaping from a house fire in the early hours this morning.
Six fire engines and about 40 firefighters tackled the blaze at a house in Penrith Close, Wandsworth, at around 1.45am.
A man and a woman escaped the building before firefighters arrived. Both were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews and the man was taken to hospital.
Half of the roof of a mid-terrace house was damaged and the first floor was destroyed by the fire, the London fire brigade (LFB) said.
Crews from Wandsworth, Fulham, Battersea and surrounding fire stations brought the blaze under control by around 3.30am.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the LFB and the Met, the LFB confirmed.
