Man in custody after 78-year-old is killed in Kensington

Police investigating the suspected murder of an elderly man in Kensington are appealing for information.

Police were called to a disturbance at a house in Longridge Road, Earl’s Court shortly after 3pm on Sunday.

Officers found the 78-year-old man and conducted CPR until the arrival of London Ambulance Service, but sadly, despite their efforts, the man died at the scene.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course. The man has not yet been formally named.

A 33-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody where he remains.

Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the investigation, said: “Our deepest condolences are offered to the family and all those who knew the victim.

“While our investigation remains ongoing, we are not seeking anyone else at this time.”

Any witnesses or anyone who can assist the investigation is asked to call 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC quoting reference CAD 4152/17Mar.
