Officers and London Ambulance Service crews were called at 2.15am on Sunday to reports of a man with stab injuries in Greenwich High Road.

The man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital, where he died a short time later.

The man’s family were informed but he has not yet been named.

Detective Chief Inspector Steve May said: “This was a shocking and brutal act of violence which has resulted in a man tragically losing his life.

“While we are at an early stage of our investigation, we believe this attack followed a fight close to the entrance of Belushi’s bar in Greenwich High Road.

“Officers are working tirelessly to locate the person responsible, and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed what happened or the events leading up to it to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“Likewise, if you were driving in the area at the time, please check your dash com footage for anything untoward. Your information could be crucial to our investigation.”
