Man shot dead in Kensington named
Police investigating the murder of a man in Kensington have named the victim as they make a renewed appeal for witnesses.
Maximillian Kusi-Owusu, aged 29, died in hospital after being found with a gunshot wound in Kensington High Street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Evening Standard said Mr Kusi-Owusu was a drill rapper known as M Lo.
A friend told the newspaper: “Fame never changed Max. He’s a very straightforward, energetic and down-to-earth human being.
“He knows nothing else other than to look out for his friends and family and most importantly his daughter, who he would do anything in this world for.”
Homicide detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have launched an investigation and are carrying out a number of enquiries.
At around 2am, police were called to Kensington High Street, following reports of a firearms discharge. Officers attended and carried out a search of the area.
They found Mr Kusi-Owusu with gunshot wounds and provided emergency first aid until the arrival of the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.
He was taken to a central London hospital where he died around 5.30am.
His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
A post-mortem examination will take place today.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday, but was subsequently released.
