Man stabbed to death in Stockwell Road

Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed to death yesterday.

Police were called by London Ambulance Service just before 3pm to Stockwell Road after a man, aged 20, was found with stab injuries.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

A crime scene is in place and an investigation is under way, but no arrests have so far been made.

A Section 60 order was been put in place, giving officers the power to search people in the area.

The order came into force at 3.45pm yesterday until 6am today.

The aim of this was to help prevent further violence.

BCU Commander for Lambeth and Southwark, Colin Wingrove, said: “This is a horrific incident and our thoughts are with the victim’s family, who have lost a loved one in such tragic circumstances.

“We are providing every support to our Specialist Crime colleagues as they investigate this terrible incident.

“I want to reassure local residents that they can expect to see an increased policing presence in the area over the coming days.

“I would urge anyone who has information they would like to share to approach those officers or call 101 or Crimestoppers.

“We must work together to remove violent offenders from our communities.”

Any witnesses or those with information are asked to call 101 ref CAD 4289/15 Sept.
