Mass arrests made after triple Friday evening stabbing in Woolwich

A total of 11 teenagers, aged between 13 and 17, have been charged after three people were stabbed in Woolwich on Friday evening.

The teenagers have been charged with violent disorder and or possession of a bladed article.

They are due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court today.

A 15-year-old who was arrested at the same time has been released on bail.

A man was taken to hospital after the triple stabbing. Emergency services were called to Thomas Street at around 6.30pm. Met officers  found three men with stab injuries at the scene.

London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed that two people were treated at the scene. One person was taken to hospital after being treated at the scene while another declined further treatment.

A spokeswoman from the LAS said they were first alerted by reports of trouble in nearby Calderwood Street and Powis Street.

The Met confirmed that the wounds inflicted on the three men had been assessed as not life-threatening.

A total of 16 people were arrested in the aftermath and enquiries into the incident continue.

A Met spokesman said: “Additional officers have been deployed to the area and a total of 16 people have been arrested in connection with the incident. Enquiries continue.

“Any witnesses or anyone with footage that may assist police should call 101 and quote ref 5815/31may.

“To remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers.”
