More than 130 people join Wandsworth Stand Up To Racism’s first protest

Wandsworth Stand Up To Racism staged its first protest on Saturday to demand justice for the Windrush generation.

More than 130 people attended, amid the global Black Lives Matter movement, which has encouraged everyone to challenge racism wherever we find it.

The Windrush scandal – and the ‘Hostile Environment’ that produced it – is seen as a particularly stark example of institutional racism here in Britain.

Speakers included Battersea MP Marsha de Cordova, cultural historian Patrick Vernon and Wandsworth and Merton Greater London Authority member, Labour’s Leonie Cooper.
