Murder charge for man accused of stabbing teen Mohammed

A man has been charged with the murder of 19-year-old Mohammed Adam Abdi in Westminster.

Awad Abdel Samad, 23, of Talbot Road, Notting Hill, will appear in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court today, charged with murder. He was also charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

Samad was arrested by detectives on Tuesday in Islington.

An investigation was launched after police were called to reports of a fight near Edgware Road Tube station in Bell Street, Paddington on Tuesday, June 4.

Officers and London Ambulance Service staff attended and found Mohammed – who lived in Pimlico –  suffering a stab injury and, despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three men were arrested shortly after the incident on suspicion of murder, aged 22, 26 and 24. The 26-year-old has been released with no further action, while the two others have been bailed pending further enquiries.

Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.
