Murder investigation launched after the death of 78-year-old man

A murder investigation has been launched after the death of 78-year-old man in Bermondsey.

Police officers were called at around just before midday on Wednesday, May 12, to reports of an unresponsive man found at an address on Jamaica Road.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A special post mortem examination which took place the following day, May 13, established cause of death as a head injury.

A murder investigation is now underway.

While police believe they know the identity of the deceased, enquiries continue to inform next of kin and a formal identification awaits.

There have been no arrests but enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
