Murder investigation opened as 72-year-old woman found dead and elderly man stabbed in Greenwich
The police have opened a murder investigation after a 72-year-old woman died from head injuries and an elderly man was taken to hospital with stab wounds.
Police were called at around at 06:40am on Sunday, July, 1 to a house on Elmdene Road, Woolwich, following reports of a disturbance.
Officers and paramedics attended where they found Shuren Ma dead at the scene at 7:37am.
A post-mortem examination carried out at Greenwich Mortuary on Wednesday July 4, gave the cause of death as a head injury.
A man, also aged in his early 70s, was taken to an east London hospital with stab injuries. He remains in a serious but stable condition.
The Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.
The injured man – who was present at the address when the woman died – will be questioned in due course.
There have been no arrests.
At this stage, officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident
