Owners of missing rescue dog hoping for safe return in time for Christmas

Owners of an adventurous hound who has been on the run for more than a month are calling for help from the public to ensure she is safely returned home by Christmas.

Ebony, a rescue dog from Ukraine, ran off during her daily walk more than eight weeks ago.

Her owners, Andrew and Julie Hill, from Sevenoaks, say the sightings of her range from north west Kent to South-east London, having most recently been spotted in Abbey Wood and Woolwich.

Mr Hill said: “We had her for just 10 days. She pulled back on the lead which came out of my hand and ran off . She’s since got rid of lead, harness and collar.”

After a sighting, Mr Hill travelled to Abbey Wood on Friday and found Ebony hiding under a camper van.

He said: “We were unable to entice her into a food trap and she gave us the slip. We’ve now had a sighting in Woolwich! Our concern is that she will go further into or across London.”

Mr and Mrs Hill said the frightened pooch – which is microchipped to their address – is in “survival mode” and will run away if she is approached.

The couple have been printing out posters and circulating the message on social media, calling for the public to print out their own copies and display it where they can.

Mr Hill said: “We only want sightings, she is not to be followed, chased or grabbed as she is lightning quick and will run, possibly into danger.”
