Penelope misses her date with the Queen

As London’s skies turned red, white and blue last weekend and people took to the streets to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee, one little girl’s hopes of attending the Platinum Jubilee Pageant on Sunday were dashed.

Penelope Lacy, four, from Norbury, was excited to be invited to attend as the youngest Rainbow in her division – Girl guiding London and South East England.

Unfortunately, she began to feel unwell and perhaps overwhelmed by the vast crowds gathered.

It all became too much for her and she and her dad beat a hasty retreat.

Her father, Bill said: “We couldn’t quite believe we were lucky enough to be given the tickets and it’s such a shame to have missed it.”
