Person killed by train at Mottingham railway station

A person died after being hit by a train at Mottingham railway station on Sunday.  

Southeastern confirmed the incident and said that the electric current was switched off as British Transport Police (BTP) and London Ambulance Service paramedics worked on site. 

London Ambulance Service said the individual – whose age or gender has not yet been confirmed – died at the scene.

A spokesman said: “We were called at 11.50am to reports of an incident at Mottingham railway station. 

“We sent an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, two medics in fast response cars and members of our hazardous area response team. Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.” 

BTP have issued a statement saying: “Officers are working to identify the deceased and inform their next of kin. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

Trains through the Bexley line were briefly disrupted as emergency services dealt with the incident.
