Planning chiefs to debate new flats at Fenwick Place in Lambeth

The next phase of the redevelopment of an estate is set to be debated by planners.

Lambeth council’s arm’s-length housing builder, Homes for Lambeth (HFL), has submitted a planning application for 27 flats, half of them affordable, in Fenwick Place.

It follows the plans by Transport for London (TfL) to build 55 new affordable homes in Fenwick South, which have already been approved by Lambeth council.

Jitinder Takhar, chief executive of Homes for Lambeth, said: “HFL is pleased that we have submitted another planning application to Lambeth council.

“The latest here at Fenwick will make a positive impact by delivering more and better homes for Lambeth residents.

“Covid 19 has made us all aware of the importance of high-quality, affordable homes and Homes for Lambeth are delivering those homes as part of the housing, health and economic recovery in Lambeth.”

Councillor Matthew Bennett, Lambeth’s planning lead, said: “I’m really pleased to see us take another step forward to build better homes for the residents of the
Fenwick estate.

“This second phase will deliver much-needed family-sized council homes, so that local families have great places to live.”

Stewart Davenport, chairman of the Homes for Lambeth Build Board, said: “We have a duty and a responsibility to both our residents and to our local economy to build more and better homes.

“Although the pressures of Covid has introduced more challenges, we remain unwavering in our determination to deliver the better homes our residents deserve.”
