Police appeal for Good Samaritan to come forward over attack and rape

Detectives investigating an allegation of rape and assault in Catford are appealing for a man who came to the victims’ assistance to come forward.

Two women reported to police that they were attacked by a man in his twenties in Winslade Way, between 10-11pm on Monday, 15 October.

One of the women was assaulted and the other was raped and assaulted.

Police attended and found one of the victims being comforted and supported by a man who had spotted her in distress and came to help her.

When officers arrived, the man walked with police to an alleyway and stayed with the victim until London Ambulance Service arrived. Unfortunately, the man left before his personal contact details could be taken by officers.

Detectives need to speak to this man as part of their investigation. He is described as a black male with short hair. He was wearing dark bottoms and a long dark puffer style coat.

The man who came to the victims’ aid, witnesses, or anyone with information are asked to call police on 07990 793471, 101, Tweet @MetCC. Quoting reference CAD7589/15OCT.

+ A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged with two counts of rape and two counts of actual bodily harm [ABH] in relation to this incident.
