Police appeal for help in catching knife-wielding thugs who attacked teenager in Brixton

Detectives investigating the stabbing of a teenager in Brixton are appealing for witnesses.

Police were called to Athlone Road, around 2,20pm on Saturday, 24 October by paramedics treating a boy with stab injuries.

The victim, aged 16, had been stabbed in the leg and back by two suspects who had been seen to run from the scene in the direction of Mackie Road.

Descriptions of the suspects, who are believed aged between 16 and 20, have been given by witnesses to officers.

Suspect one was described as a black male, of skinny build and at least 5ft8ins tall. He had no facial hair and a small neat black afro. He wore a plain burgundy top, and a light grey zip up hoody, which was open. He also had matching grey jogging bottoms.

The second suspect was described as a black male, 5ft11ins tall, and wearing a grey hoodie which was open – the hood was up. He wore a black t-shirt underneath with an orange pattern on it which stood out. The pattern consisted of a few shapes that joined together, which were black with orange borders. He wore straight legged dark grey trousers and black shoes. He also had on black sunglasses.

It is thought the victim was attacked at the junction of Harriet Tubman Close with Athlone Road and that the suspects ran off towards the Tesco Express petrol garage at the bottom of Athlone Road, on Tulse Hill.

Detective Constable Mia Armitage said: “This was a very nasty attack which could have cost a teenager his life.

“Thankfully, he is recovering physically and we are committed to doing everything we can to make arrests in this case.
