Police hunt man who knocked out train passenger over alleged racist remarks
Police are hunting a man who appears to knock out a train passenger during a heated altercation on the London Overground.
A video circulating online shows the two men having an argument on the train between Clapham Junction and Dalston Junction.
The video allegedly shows one of the men – a younger man wearing a checked shirt over a yellow T-shirt – telling the middle-aged man to sit down.
The older man, wearing a white T-shirt and shorts, is approached by a woman who also tells him to sit down as the younger man repeats “stop talking to me”.
Then the older man – who said he is from east London – said, “You know where I’m from?”, the younger man replies: “Do I look like I give a f***? You’re in South London, remember that.”
Violence breaks out near Denmark Hill railway station between the two men when the older man calls the suspect “Afroman”.
Onlookers can be heard shouting at the pair to “calm down”.
Both men strike out punches and one man falls to the train floor. He appears to be unconscious.
The minute-long video, posted on X, ends before it is known what happened to either men.
