Police name woman stabbed to death in Lewisham home

Police have named the woman who was stabbed to death in her home in Lewisham last week.

While formal identification has not yet taken place, officers said the victim is Zhe Wang, a 31-year-old Chinese national who was studying in London. 

Her next of kin are being supported by specially trained officers, the Met said.

Joshua Michals, 24, an American national of Deals Gateway Deptford, was charged with murder on Friday.

He appeared in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody.

He then appeared at the Central Criminal Court yesterday. The next hearing will be on June 11 and a trial is set for January 2025.

Police said the defendant and victim were known to each other.

​​A murder investigation was launched after the Met were called at around 11.15pm to reports of a stabbing at a house in Manor Park, Hither Green.

Police arrived at the scene with paramedics and forced entry to the address.

Ms Wang was found injured inside. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, she died at the scene a short time later. 

A spokesman from the Met said: “Anyone with information relating to this incident should call police on 101 quoting 8153/20MAR.
