Police not investigating anyone else in Elephant & Castle murder case as two deaths linked

The Met have confirmed they are not investigating anyone else in a woman’s murder case which has been linked to a man who died later the same evening.

A murder investigation was launched following the death of a 27-year-old woman on Thursday. Police were called at around 4pm to a block of flats in Elephant Road, East Walworth, following reports of a disturbance at the location.

A woman was found there with serious injuries and despite the efforts of emergency services she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Later that evening, at around 8.45pm, police were called to reports that a man had fallen from height at New Change, in the City of London near St Paul’s Cathedral.

Despite the efforts of members of the public and medics, the man, aged 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Met have confirmed that both parties were known to each other and the case remains a murder investigation.

But at this stage the Met said officers are not seeking anyone else in connection with their investigation.

Dates for both post-mortems are yet to be confirmed and the Met confirmed officers are not yet in a position to release the ID of both the deceased, five days after their deaths.

Detective Inspector Mike Nolan of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command said: “We know that local people will be shocked by this incident, and while we are at the very early stages of our investigation, I would like to reassure the community that we don’t believe that any other persons are outstanding in connection with this tragic sequence of events.”
