Primary school kids get stuck into Children in Need
Students bounced, skipped and climbed for charity when Meridian High School in New Addington took part in this year’s Children in Need.
The annual charity appeal started early at the school in Fairchildes Avenue, with a non-uniform day on Thursday, which saw staff and students alike make donations to wear theme colours and spots.
Then on Friday, the students attended tutor-time Children in Need assemblies, before taking a more active role in the fundraising.
“We held a series of challenges at break and lunchtime, including a handball, skipping, and Active Wall tournament, where children paid £1 to enter,” said assistant headteacher Robyn Wallace.
Meridian High School is part of the GLF Schools Multi-Academy Trust which collectively raised thousands for Children in Need.
Other GLF schools taking part included William Morris Primary School, Recreation Way, Mitcham, where children donned their dancing shoes to fundraise for Children in Need, when the school held a sponsored Dance-a-Thon. The school hoped to make over £200 for the charity.
