Queen Elizabeth Hospital patient celebrates her 101st birthday
Colleagues at Queen Elizabeth Hospital helped 101-year-old patient Ivy Mundey celebrate her birthday last week.
Ivy, from Woolwich New Road, Greenwich, is in hospital due to a respiratory issue.
Ivy’s daughter, Barbara Smith, said: “We would like to thank all the staff on ward 15 who looked after my mum with so much kindness and care.
“You did a fantastic job of making her 101st birthday so special for her
“Mum kept commenting on what a great day she had when we visited her at the hospital.
“Once again, thank you. It means a lot to us.”
Ivy was born on March 16, 1922. Staff on ward 15 surprised her with a cake, balloons and a card.
Samantha Etienne, manager on ward 15, said: “Ivy is a special lady, and turning 101 is a big deal, so we had to celebrate with her.
“For us, seeing her happy and singing along to the birthday songs was a beautiful moment, as being in the hospital on your birthday isn’t fun at all.”
