Record number of people turn out for hospice fundraising Lavender Walk
More than 200 people gathered for a walk to raise money for a hospice.
As part of St Raphael’s Hospice’s annual Lavender Walk, the charity invited the community to gather at Mayfield Lavender Farm in Carshalton Road, Banstead on Saturday.
With fields of purple in bloom, walkers helped to raise funds for the hospice, which has locations across Merton and offers free specialist care.
Solo walkers, families, friends, children of all ages and many pets chose between a scenic four-mile or eight-mile walk through the lavender farm, Oaks Park and Banstead Common.
Many walked in celebration of loved ones who had been cared for by St Raphael’s.
This year’s Lavender Walk raised £9,700 for the hospice.
