Restaurant fire sees 30 people escape blaze at 4am
An early morning blaze at a restaurant gutted a storage area and forced 30 people to evacuate the surrounding area.
Eight fire engines and about 60 firefighters from Tooting, Clapham, Battersea and other surrounding fire stations rushed to Balham High Road in Wandsworth at around 3.45am on Saturday.
They had to tackle a ground floor blaze at the three-storey building, which has residential properties above the restaurant.
A covered yard area at the rear of the restaurant, used for storage, was destroyed by the fire.
The fire was under control by around 6.10am. There were no reports of any injuries.
The fire is believed to have been accidental, but the exact cause has been recorded as undetermined.
