Revised bin collections for Merton residents over Christmas
By Tara O’Connor, Local Democracy Reporter
Bin collections in Merton will temporarily change over the festive period this year.
Some people will see their bins collected four days later over Christmas and New Year.
Collections which were due to take place on December 26, 27, 28 and 29 as well as January 2, 3, 4 and 5 will happen two days later.
If your collection was scheduled for January 30 it will instead happen four days later on January 3.
And if it was due on January 6 it will happen three days later on January 9.
Collections between January 9 and 13 will all happen one day later than their usual scheduled day.
After Christmas, those with real trees can take them to the tip in Morden or put it outside your home by 6am on January 9.
It will be collected sometime after this date for free by the council’s contractor.
Residents are asked to remember to remove all decorations and the pot and put it as close to the front edge of the property where it is visible but not on the pavement.
Those in flats with communal bins can put their trees outside the bin store.
Those who subscribe to Merton council’s garden waste collection service can also cut it up and put it in their garden waste bin.
