Rotary club donates £11K to St Christopher’s Hospice, Sydenham

A rotary club has raised more than £11,000 for a variety of charities and organisations after 295 hours of volunteer work.

The Ravensbourne Rotary club combined collections with door knocking to generate the funds and has given £6,000 to St Christopher’s Hospice in Sydenham.

The remaining £5,000 was given to 14 other organisations. Rotary District Governor Brenda Parsons said: “Thank you for inviting me to your cheque-giving celebration.

It is a celebration because we could all hear how your hard work collecting in the cold and raising money through charity events will make a difference to so many local people.

Well done. Feel proud.” Carol Endericks, fundraising manager of St Christopher’s hospice, said: “The care that we offer families would not be possible without you, together we will make people matter.”

The club had street collections in Catford and Downham knocking on doors with the help of the local police cadets.

Bromley Brighter Beginnings was another recipient of the funds raised. Annie Bragg, a volunteer, said: “Thank you so much for the event last night which was a great celebration of your terrific fundraising activities.

I hope I managed to make clear how grateful we are for your generous donation – very encouraging for a small charity.”
