Children and staff were left “inspired” after a former pupil-turned professional footballer paid a surprise visit during a training session.
Kwadwo Baah, a professional footballer playing for Watford Football Club, joined the football team at South Norwood Primary School, in Crowther Road, to show off his skills.
After joining in on the action, Mr Baah spent time answering the children’s questions, sharing insights into his journey from playing football at school to competing at the professional level.
He signed shirts and shoes to leave the children with lasting memories of his visit.
South Norwood Primary School has a strong sporting tradition, with a number of pupils playing for football clubs across Croydon and Bromley.
In recent years, their teams have won the Croydon School Football League and reached several cup finals.
Mr Baah sent a signed match shirt to South Norwood’s PE teacher, Mickey Mullin, who reached out to him after recognising him playing on loan for Burton Albion.
Mr Mullin said: “We’re incredibly proud of Kwadwo and everything he’s achieved.
“It’s so inspiring for our pupils to see someone from their own community go on to succeed like this and his visit will have left a lasting impression on our young footballers.”
