Schoolchildren from Haseltine Primary School get healthy eating tips from bobsleigh Olympic medalist Joel
Schoolchildren got tips on how to have a healthy eating lifestyle from an Olympic medalist.
Joel Fearon visited the children of Haseltine Primary School to help them to learn about the benefits of fresh and healthy food.
Team GB bobsleigh star Joel got a bronze medal at the Sochi games in 2014 in the four-man bobsleigh.
He delivered an inspirational assembly addressing the benefits of eating healthy food and exercising.
Joel talked to the pupils about his experience of the Olympics and took them through his challenging training regime as an Olympian.
The children at the school in Haseltine Road, Sydenham got the chance to hold Joel’s bronze medal.
The Olympian presented a donation of fresh fruit and snacks to the school, courtesy of a new Aldi store in Bell Green Retail Park.
MrFearon said: “I’ve had a fantastic time with the children, they were an absolute delight.
It was great to talk to them about the importance of eating healthily and how it can be fun to prepare your own meals.
“Hopefully I’ve also managed to inspire the pupils to keep active and try different sports.”
In addition to supporting Haseltine Primary School, the new Aldi store is now donating surplus food directly to Beulah Road Food bank, which supports the local community by offering various community services.
