Man dies in Shepherd’s Bush care home fire

A man has died following a fire at a residential care home in Shepherd’s Bush.

Four fire engines and about 25 firefighters tackled the blaze in Elgin Close yesterday afternoon.

Half of a first floor flat was damaged by the fire. A man was found in the flat, and sadly pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been named.

Two further people were treated on the scene by London Ambulance Service staff, and taken to hospital.

Control officers took the first of 11 calls at around 2.25pm and mobilised crews from Hammersmith, Chiswick and Kensington fire stations to the scene. The incident was over for firefighters at around 4.45pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
