Shop in Bexley fined £11k for selling booze with no licence
A shop has been prosecuted for selling alcohol without a licence after they were found selling booze to a minor before.
TFC Welling Ltd, in Upper Wickham Lane, had their premises licence revoked on January 17, 2018 for selling alcohol to a minor.
They were later caught and convicted of selling alcohol without a licence on two occasions.
They were also fined for opening on Easter Sunday.
Bexley Magistrates’ Court fined them £10,000 in total and also ordered them to pay costs.
Total payment of £11,105 was ordered in full within 28 days. The court gave credit to the company for its early guilty plea and took into account the company director’s co-operation.
Councillor Alex Sawyer, cabinet member for communities said: “We take our responsibilities as a licensing authority very seriously.
“This prosecution sends out a strong message that our officers on the street continue to be vigilant and we will prosecute anyone found to be selling alcohol without a licence.”
