Six arrests made after two men hurt during knife fight in Woolwich

Two men were hurt when fighting broke out between groups armed with knives on Saturday.

Police were called at around 3.45pm to reports of a fight and a group of men armed with knives near Duke of Wellington Avenue, Woolwich.

Police, including armed officers, and London Ambulance Service found one man, aged in his 20s, suffering a knife injury to the arm – he has been taken to hospital where he remains. His condition is not life-threatening.

A second man, also aged in his 20s, suffered minor injuries.

Six people have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and remain in custody.

Enquiries into the circumstances remain ongoing.
