Some ideas of how to entertain half-term kids – leisure centres gearing up for next week

Half-term is almost here once again and ‘Better’ leisure centres in south London are putting on a range of activities to keep the kids entertained while they get fit and make new friends.

Here is a snapshot of some of the activities on offer in the region this half-term:

CROYDON

At Waddon Leisure Centre, kids can take part in the holiday club that runs all week. Activities include a mixture of ‘busy’ and ‘quiet’ pastimes such as swimming, board games and watching films. The cost is £34.95 per day.

Thornton Heath Leisure Centre offers a similar holiday club all week. There are also Junior Gym sessions from 4-6pm every day, swimming short courses, and adult and junior gym sessions every evening.

New Addington Leisure Centre offers a half-day holiday club all week at a cost of £22.50 per child, per day. The swim school is also running short courses for beginners and improvers.

GREENWICH

Charlton Lido has adult and junior gyms sessions.

Coldharbour Leisure Centre has drop-in junior football sessions between 5-6pm every evening. It costs £5.95 per person. Junior gym weekdays between noon and 6pm are available at £4.50 per child.

Sutcliffe Park offers Clip and Climb between 10.15am and 6pm. Each session lasts 55 minutes. Prices start at £13.70. Gymnastics workshops for kids over the age of four can be booked at £19.20 per child.

LEWISHAM

All ‘Better’ leisure centres in the borough of Lewisham are offering junior gym sessions, ‘Swim for All’ sessions and ‘kids-swim-for-a quid’ sessions.

Bellingham Leisure Centre is offering a football-themed holiday camp. Bellingham and Wavelengths centres are also offering soft play sessions and Forest Hill Pools has junior classes in cardio and strength and conditioning every afternoon. Adult and junior gym sessions are also available.

MERTON

Morden Leisure Centre offers short courses in swimming for beginners and improvers plus designated session where kids can swim for free.

At Canons Leisure Centre, kids swim for free at designated times. Toddlers World soft play sessions are on Tuesday and Friday between 9am and 2pm.
