South London Botanical Institute take to Wandle Park for Wildflower Walk

Roy Vickery of the South London Botanical Institute, took people on a walk around Wandle Park, Colliers Wood, on Thursday, July 18, to help raise funds for the Merton and Wandsworth Green Parties.

Mr Vickery found plantains, shepherd’s purse, cow parsley, Scottish thistle, burdock, pineapple weed, common mallow, Himalayan balsam, fools watercress, goose grass, floating pennywort and many other plants.

Pippa Maslin of the Merton Green Party, said: “I was delighted that Roy Vickery of the South London Botanical Institute led us on this lovely wildflower walk around Wandle Park, showing us what a rich area it is for wildflowers.

“We raised £95.00 in aid of the Merton and Wandsworth Green Parties, which will enable us to spread the word on environmental issues, such as taking care of our green spaces.”
