South London snubbed by London Borough of Culture Awards

South London has been snubbed by the London Borough of Culture Awards.

Ladbrokes put Southwark as odds on favourites last week but they were pipped to the post by Waltham Forest who will receive the £1.35m pot as London’s 2019 Borough of Culture.

Sadiq Khan made the announcement accompanied by a dramatic drum roll and then The Clash’s London’s Calling serenaded the winners as they took to the stage.

Brent won the 2020 award beating Southwark and third favourites Greenwich.
