South London ‘Toddlers’ help raise £265k

Nurseries and groups of children in South London toddled their way towards a national total of £265,350 to help Barnardo’s transform the lives of vulnerable youngsters.

Under-fives groups from Wandsworth, Merton, Lambeth, Lewisham and Croydon joined children across the UK for the Big Toddle in 2017. They included Nightingale Montessori Nursery in Clapham, which contributed £989, Eaton House the Manor Nursery in Clapham Common, which raised £286, and Carrot Cake Nursery in Battersea, which raised £171.

In Lewisham, Brindishe Manor in Hither Green raised £571, Lillington’s Montessori in Ladywell raised £478, Young Oaks Day Nursery in Forest Hill raised £245, and Baring Primary School and Nursery in Lee raised £129. In Greenwich, £402 was raised by toddlers at Heath House School in Blackheath.

Brightsparks Day Nursery in Selsdon, South Croydon, contributed £1,908, Croydon Childminding Association raised £916, Crystal Palace fundraiser Bronagh Heaney raised £50. Jigsaw Day Nursery, Mitcham raised £249 and Chatsworth Baptist Church Pre-School in West Norwood raised £200.

Barnardo’s, which supports children, young people, parents and carers in London is again calling for local nurseries, schools and families to take part in this year’s Big Toddle week from June 18 to 24, 2018.
