Teenager admits killing 14-year-old Jermaine Cools

A teenager has admitted murdering a 14-year-old boy after a fight involving a number of people near West Croydon railway station.

Jermaine Cools was attacked at around 6.30pm on November 18, 2021.

He managed to get himself to hospital, but later died from his injuries.

He was the youngest stab victim in the capital in 2021.

A post-mortem gave the cause of death as multiple stab wounds.

A 17-year-old boy pleaded guilty to murder at the Old Bailey on Monday and is due to be sentenced on February 24.

The defendant, who cannot be named due to his age, previously admitted possessing a knife in London Road on the same date. He remains in custody.

The victim’s family were in court to witness the guilty plea.

Last November, a plaque was unveiled near to the place where Jermaine died.

Father Julius Cools said: “I want him to rest in peace by getting justice for him.”
