Terrorism charges levied against Croydon resident
A man from Croydon has been charged with terrorism offences after an investigation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
Paul Martin, 59, has been charged with encouragement of terrorism, contrary to section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006 and possession of articles for the purposes of terrorism, contrary to section 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
He has also been charged with possession of a weapon capable of discharging a noxious substance or other item (in this case, a stun gun), contrary to section 5(1)(b) of the Firearms Act 1968.
He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow after being charged via postal requisition.
Martin was arrested in south London on September 28, 2021, and was released under investigation.
