Thefts in Soho shops have almost doubled

Shops in London were targeted by shoplifters every 15 minutes last year with the number of offences in Soho doubling.

Nearly twice as many shoplifting offences occurred in Soho and Fitzrovia West in 2021-22 compared to the previous year.

There were 1,166 shoplifting offences in the famous shopping areas compared to 617 offences the year before.

Crime data from Police.uk shows there were 35,531 offences in London in the past year (the equivalent of 97 a day) while there was a shoplifting offence committed every two minutes across England and Wales.
