Themes of colour, nature and travel adorn Tooting Bec exhibition
The Margan Gallery in Tooting Bec is set to unveil its latest exhibition – featuring two artists exploring the themes of ‘Colour, Nature and Travel’.
It opens on Saturday but a lucky few were able to catch a private preview on Thursday at the gallery in Trinity Road.
Artists Lesley Heilbron Gelbart and Susie Joyce are the pair whose works are on show, curated by David Clark and hosted by Gosia Oldakowski-Pacak
Lesley lives in Colliers Wood and inspirations for her paintings are taken from the natural world, travel and the garden, a particular passion as she has tried to create a Mediterranean-inspired courtyard at her home and a shared community allotment.
She says there is a lively sense of camaraderie from working with other people on an allotment and of course there is the end product of delicious vegetables, plants and flowers for the table.
For Susie, from Suffolk, colour is the language through which she interprets the world. Her pieces are a celebration of how colours interact, forming shapes and spaces that evoke movement and energy.
Each work is seen as a joyful exploration of life’s vibrancy, with a focus on how light and colour create harmonious, dynamic forms. Through her paintings, Susie invites viewers to see the world as she does, full of potential and positivity.
Gosia Oldakowski-Pacak, host at the Margan Gallery, said: “I was delighted to host this exhibition of two such talented artists. The Margan Gallery brings together the Polish and English communities in South West London, creating a space for international hospitality.”
The next exhibition will be on “Amber.” The exhibition closes on Saturday, October 26. Opening hours: Monday, Tuesday, Friday: 11am – 6pm; Thursday, Saturday: 11am – 4pm; Wednesday, Sunday: appointments only.
