Three hurt by jewellery store robbers armed with hammers

Potential witnesses to a jewellery store raid are being asked to come forward to help find two men who entered a store with hammers and injured three people.

The robbery took place at the Bourbon-Hanby Antiques Arcade in Sydney Street, Chelsea at around 12.10pm on Tuesday of last week.

The two masked men damaged property inside the shop and stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and antiques after smashing glass cabinets.

Three victims were taken to hospital to receive treatment after they sustained facial injuries during the robbery. Their injuries are non-life-threatening.

One of the victims, the Sun newspaper reported, was shop owner Ian Towning, who has appeared on ITV’s Dickinson’s Real Deal. He was behind the counter when the men attacked.

Detective Sergeant Richard Hall, who is leading the investigation, said: “I am appealing to the public to help us identify any potential witnesses who may have seen the incident unfold.

“I am particularly keen to be provided with any dash cam footage or CCTV from the local area at the time. This may help us find our suspects.

“If you know anything, or witnessed anything suspicious in the Sydney Street area at the time, then please come forward to police by calling 101 stating CAD 2933/26Mar.”
