Three men jailed following the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old in North Woolwich

Three men have been sentenced for violent disorder after a 15-year-old died of a stab injury in North Woolwich last year.

On December 11, Kayjon Lubin, 15, and his friend Azhar Miah were involved in an altercation with Raymond McGill and Gift Osondu on Woodman Street.

They were all armed with knives.

Mr Lubin was stabbed once in the chest and died at the scene.

McGill, 18, Miah, 28 and Osondu, 18, were all found guilty of violent disorder after a trial at the Old Bailey last year.

McGill, from Manwood Street, North Woolwich, and Miah, from Silverland Street, Newham, were also convicted of possession of a knife in a public place.

Osondu, from Consatnce Street in Silvertown, pleaded guilty to this charge.

McGill and Osondu were found not guilty of the murder or manslaughter of Mr Lubin.

On Friday, November 12, McGill was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment, Osondu, two years’ imprisonment and Miah, 17 months’ imprisonment.

Detective Sergeant Gary Harreman, the investigating officer, said: “The Met will do all it can to bring to justice those who carry knives in public and contribute to the violence on the streets of London.

“A 15-year-old died as the result of a single stab wound, demonstrating the deadly consequences of carrying and using a knife.

“My thoughts go out to his family and friends, who have lost someone who had his whole life ahead of him.”
