Tiny flat with no toilet up for rent in one of London’s wealthiest boroughs

By Jacob Phillips, local democracy reporter

A tiny flat with a hob next to the bed but no toilet in sight has gone up for let in one of London’s wealthiest boroughs.

The one-room apartment in Kensington costs just £400 a month rent and comes with a sink, shower, and oven.

But the little home has nowhere to relieve yourself and there is no mention of where renters can go to the toilet in the room’s listing – and no toilet is visible in the photos.

The advert for the room was listed on Gumtree on August 30 and says it has its own facilities.

It says the room is: “Close to all local amenities including shops, cafés, restaurants, bars, supermarkets.

“Newly decorated plus wood flooring.”

Photos reveal a shower sandwiched between a chest of drawers and a wardrobe next to the bed.

The mattress lies beside the door and looking out over a large window.

The flat is on North End Crescent, a two minute walk from West Kensington Tube station and a 10 minute walk to Baron’s Court or Earl’s Court Tube stations.

Buses in the area also make it easy to access the West End, Notting Hill, Chelsea and Fulham.

The average cost of renting a property in the W14 postcode is £402 a week, according to Foxtons pricing the flat at well below market value.

Houses on the same street are on the market for £465,000 while a similar studio flat is priced at £520 a month on Zoopla.
