Tooting Celebral palsy sufferer appeals for donations to buy a portable track hoist

A cerebral palsy sufferer is appealing for donations to help her buy a portable track hoist which would enable her to enjoy as full a life as possible.
Sarah Jones Nash, from Tooting, has cerebral palsy, osteoporosis and scoliosis and is in desperate need of the £2,450 hoist.
Three years ago she lost the ability to move by herself.
The 33-year-old recently started a new job as a disability awareness trainer, which involves travelling around the country and staying in hotels – but most of them do not have space under their beds, which require a specialist hoist to get into.
A portable ceiling track hoist would overcome the problems she faces with a traditional mobile hoist when she travels for work – though it would also mean she can visit friends who live further away.
Her current hoist is unsteady and needs at least two people to operate it safely.
Sarah said: “Whilst I acknowledge that I have a disability, the most disabling factors in my life are a product of the able-bodied environment in which we live.
The hoist would be a giant step in broadening my horizons and make my world so much more accessible.
“I lost the ability to move three years ago and this prevented me from being able to do many things that most people take for granted.”
Her home, which she shares with her husband Joel, who is also a full-time wheelchair user, is specially adapted for their needs.
