Tragedy strikes in Welling as man dies in house fire
A loft fire in a terraced house in Welling has claimed the life of a man.
Four fire engines and about 25 firefighters were called to a blaze at a house on Kent Avenue yesterday evening (Monday).
A small part of a loft conversion in the two-storey mid-terraced property was destroyed by fire and the man died at the scene.
The brigade was called at 5.50pm and the incident was over by 7.30pm. Fire crews from Eltham, Sidcup and Bexley fire stations were in attendance.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Met police and the brigade.
