Two gold awards for new homes and community theatre at London Square, Streatham Hill at industry Oscars
Leading residential developer London Square scooped the top glittering prizes – a galaxy of two gold awards and a bronze – at the Oscars of the housebuilding industry, the WhatHouse? Awards 2018.
London Square beat fierce competition to win the top two gold awards and a bronze award for London Square Streatham Hill, a mixed-use regeneration scheme which has transformed a former dormant site into 254 homes, a community theatre, an M&S Foodhall, coffee shops and a Superdrug store. The development has now sold out and the first residents have moved in.

At an awards ceremony at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall and TV personality Gabby Logan, London Square Streatham Hill was awarded gold for Best Mixed Development – a range of homes around a central courtyard on the site of the former Gaumont Palace cinema, a local Art Deco landmark, which had lain dormant and mired by planning issues for years before London Square purchased the site. The project also won gold for Best Apartment Scheme and bronze for Best Development.
The judges commented: “This is a residential development that has knitted both commercial retail space and a performance venue into the mix of urban Streatham Hill… When it comes to value for money, it’s hard to top this project….A thoughtfully planned development with everything you need on the doorstep.”
