Vauxhall shooting: Five men injured after shotgun fired

Police are appealing for information and witnesses after five people were left with knife and gunshot injuries.

One of the victims, a 20-year-old, is in a life-threatening condition.

Police were called at around 3.30am on Saturday, after the five men – aged in their 20s – turned up at two South London hospitals with gunshot and knife injuries.

The men are thought to have all been wounded during a disturbance close to Wandsworth Road, Vauxhall, during which a shotgun was fired.

Trident detectives from the Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation and are working closely with their colleagues on the Central South Command Unit.

Detective Sergeant Matt Doohan, who is leading the investigation, said: “The investigation into this offence, and what took place, is in its early stages.

“This incident occurred in the very early hours of Saturday morning when members of the public were likely to have been asleep.

“However, we need the support and help of our communities to bring those individuals who are willing to endanger others by using firearms and knives on the streets of London to justice and to help us in preventing further people from being injured in similar circumstances.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
