Waiving the fee so you can wave the royal flag
Get ready for a free for all to mark the royal wedding.
Wandsworth council are encouraging residents to go out and have a party to celebrate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding day.
On the weekend of May 19, the council are waiving the usual £93 charge that residents have to pay to host a street party.
They have also stripped away the bureaucracy and red tape that is usually in place and all the information needed to apply for a road closure and fulfil the legal requirements can be submitted online via an application form.
The big question is whether Harry and Meghan’s wedding will be as popular as Kate and Wills’ where about 70 street parties were held in Wandsworth.
People are being advised that they need to complete the online questionnaire by Monday, April 30.
