White City bus assault may have been religiously-motivated, say police
Police investigating an allegedly religiously-aggravated assault on board a bus are appealing for the public’s help.
At around 10.30pm on November 27, a woman was on a route 207 bus from Westfield Shopping Centre in White City when she was approached by a man who started speaking to her.
The woman, aged in her 40s, was wearing a hijab and explained that she didn’t want to engage with the man.
He ignored the request and went on to make unwanted comments and assaulted her before getting off the bus in Uxbridge Road, close to Ealing town hall.
The woman did not require hospital treatment.
Cops from the Met’s Roads and Transport Policing Command have carried out a number of enquiries, including a review of CCTV from the bus.
They are now appealing for the public’s help to identify a man they wish to speak to.
Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 1753/27Nov22. To remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
