Woman, 31, stabbed to death in home

A woman was stabbed to death in a house last night.

Police were called at around 11.15pm to reports of a stabbing at a house in Manor Park, Lewisham.

They forced entry to the address, followed by paramedics.

A 31-year-old woman was found injured inside. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, she died at the scene a short time later. 

A 24-year-old man has been arrested at another address in the area on suspicion of murder. 

He remains in custody at a South London police station, the Met said.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Nolan, said: “We know people will be shocked by this incident and I would like to reassure the community that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this investigation.”

A crime scene remains and an increased policing presence will be patrolling the area over the next few days, the Met said.

Chief Superintendent Louise Sargent: “Tragically overnight a woman has been killed and we do not underestimate the impact this has on the local community and those who knew the victim.

“All of our thoughts are with the victim’s family and friends as we do everything we can to support detectives as they go about their enquiries.

“Please do speak with officers if you need to or contact your local policing team.”

A spokesman from the met said: “Anyone with information relating to this incident should call police on 101 quoting 8153/20MAR. 

“To remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
